Summer is in full swing!

As the days are heating up so are all the wonderful things we are up to here. The garden is starting to kick out baskets of produce, fruit and goodies. Just today the harvest was raspberries, blueberries, another huge bucket of green beans, potatoes, zucchini, an eggplant, a few peppers, fresh basil, a couple little garlic cloves, and the plums on the tree are so many the branches have to be propped up with sticks! Looks like I'll need to be pulling out the canner and jars soon to put up some green beans for winter. The raspberries I'll freeze now, use in oatmeal, then process any leftover into jam later in the winter. There is just something so serene about getting up early with a hot cup of coffee and strolling out into the garden to admire and tend to everything. The smell of the moist soil, to see how much has grown overnight, the hummingbirds swooping in to say hello, butterflies fluttering through and an occasional praying mantis perched on a leaf...it just fills the soul.

As for the knitting side of things we have a new design on the needles for a bucket style bag/purse. The bottom featuring wedges you knit individually and pick up as you go. The body of the bag has cables and slipped stitches between to meld the stitch pattern from the bottom wedges up into the bag. A touch of ridges around bottom will continue around top before some ribbing to naturally pull opening in, and a single wide strap with continued cables will finish off this design. Knit in cotton for ease of care, durability, and defined details. My plan is to also look around for a nice organizer insert to suggest in the pattern if desired for additional structure and organization. So far, I am really pleased with the current progress and hope to crank this one out soon!! What do you think? Leave a comment!

I hope you are having a fantastic start to your summer and currently working on an exciting project. Would love to see if you want to share over in the community section :)
